I had one it worked fine outside the cab but was sometimes hard to understand inside and the range was limited.

You can get adaptors so you can link them to a larger areial or run them from 12v
But in general very expensive and batteries don't last very long.

I have mine bolted to a bracket on my centre console and it runs on tbe ciggie lighter  so i can take it out.

Laughing  Laughing I was wondering about where to put mine before i went for the centre console as i don't like to drill holes in the dash i had a single din so was going to put it there but you know what its like round here Mart. Sad The other thought i had was bolting it to the side of those little black crates they sell in Tescos then keeping my offroading maps and bits and bobs in there as well they fit just nice between the seats and just getting it out the shed when needed.

Yeah i know its worry just leaving anything in the van at all but sometimes i have one of my dogs in the van, that would be funny to see the little bluggers faces when they reached in for the stereo  Laughing  Laughing

yeah think i will do something similar to what you suggested at least when i do finally get a chance to come along to the plains i can hear the laughter as i sink up to my axles... Crying or Very sad  :D

do you know of a good reasonable make?

There are a few on ebay or Maplins in Staines have a little display it also depends if you want eur channels as well or just a greenlaning cheapy.

Cheap set up's can get 4 or 5 mile range depending where you are.
The more expensive it is the more likely it is to get stolen  Crying or Very sad in this day and bid where crime appears to be the only way to earn a proper living  Evil or Very Mad
