Sounds amazing!
Quote: |
Oils refined from crudes are not particularly good lubricants. Over the years, additives and complete synthetics have been developed to improve lubricity, film strength, stability, anti-corrosion and cleaner operation.
Even so, it has been demonstrated that friction co-efficients can be further enhanced by introducing surface modifiers into oils. These are traditionally polymer or metallic compounds with perceptible thickness.
Extralube ZX1 is a more elegant solution to the problems of friction wear. It is FREE ENTIRELY of congealing agents which can affect flow rates, design tolerances and the working of small active components.
The re-engineered hydrocarbon molecules in Extralube ZX1 actually synergise with ferrous and non ferrous metals on contact, forming a complex long-chain molecular bond which is extremely slippery and tenacious.
Extralube ZX1 acts as an intermediate, microscopic rubbing surface which continues to function after the oil film has broken down. It is measurably effective at extreme pressures and temperatures.
Extralube ZX1 has been formulated to avoid harmful side-effects, not only uncontrolled surface buildup but contains no solids or sediments and is compatible with metals, non-metals and all known lubricants, including synthetics when applied as directed. |

Yes, I've used the stuff in several engines. Mainly because my Uncle used to sell it I might even have it in the Deli :? But it's been so long I can't remember Seem to remember one benefit is slightly smoother engine etc... _________________

I've used this for several years and can thoroughly recommend it, however have'nt been able to find a supplier in the last couple of years so assumed it was no longer available
It certainly gives improved mpg and smoother running, the largest engine I've used it in was 12 litres (HGV tractor unit) and even that went from 8.5mpg to 8.8mpg.
If anybody knows where it's available I would be interested in trying it in my Delica.

How much do you need?
Fuel treatment :
Initial : 1ml / litre
Subsequent : 0.5ml / litre
eg : 90l tank : initial 90ml, subsequent 45ml
Engine Oil treatment :
2000-2400 : 225 ml
2500-3500 : 250 ml
3500-4200 : 300 ml
General lubrication : add @ 5%
(I'll add this in the club shop ;) )

Just had a look in the club shop, this stuff sounds like a pretty good value insurance policy! You quote...
"Transmission : Auto : 2.5% (provided NO metal to metal plates)"
Does my 94 L400 have metal to metal plates?!
Many thanks

Treated my Deli yesterday - much less rattle'n'clatter on start up and ticks over quieter too. Does anyone know the answer to my query above about the gearbox?
Thanks!

have used ZX1 in engine - gearbox and diffs without any problems so far.
I got mine from QVC as you get 2 bottles and a spray bottle like WD40
Also - if you use 1 bottle and do not think it makes any difference then you can send empty bottle back with other bottles and get you money back minus P&P

Yup, I got a bottle from them recently and have been adding it to a 140hp 2stroke V6 outboard engine and recording the speeds with a marine GPS and there is about 7mph increase in top speed when the GPS has done its calculations over 276 nautical miles, taking us up to a top speed of about 64 mph on flat water.
I think I will invest in more and give the Deli a dose.

I swear by the above - oil and fuel treatment - made in USA - use it in my car and motor bike - extra MPG - smoother engine - moreout put and engine does not work so hard - remains cooler.
I am buying a L400 super exceed next week - shall put that in the engine and fuel tank.
By the way why does engine smoke when under hard accelaration? (noticed it on test run) - been standing too long?
I want to be armed when i go to the garage to collect it. |

I've used ZX1 in Granadas with petrol engines, the 2.0l and 2.9 V6 like it, but it plays havoc with the hydraulic valve lifters on the 24v V6.
I put a bit in the coolant system to protect the water pump.
I wonder whether some in my Granadas autobox will help it along...? |

I am hoping i am correct in saying my L400 requires 8.3L of engine oil, 8.5L Transmission oil so therefore i will require the following amounts of ZX1 250ml for engine and 215ml for transmission.
Can anyone make my life easier and name the oil to use for the engine and the transmisson.......and the big question should i be using any flush and if so on both units???
cheers guys anything for smoother quiter cheaper running Deli, i am aiming for a 40MPG Deli by the end of next year :?
Oh do i have wet plate clutch thingy in which case can i use the Lube
thanks Arctic _________________ Kieron

must admit I'm a bit wary of shoving things in decent oil, but had a good read round on zx1 and it looks like its zinc dialkyl phosphate, basicly it bonds to metal (few molecules thick) and forms a sacraficial layer, apparently it was also used on oil rigs for the drill bits
also came across a few articles on bob the oil guy about the amount of zdp (i think is the acromym) being reduced in modern oils as it destroys catalytic systems, so makes sense to shove this in our delis! |

Seem to recall they sold the Deli so most likely did then achieve it! _________________ Marc
