Its a pain to do it as its all a bit weak at the front though a fella in Oz does a complete bumper and winch for them but not cheap Buzr6mille has a winch mounted in the floor at the back of his Deli its got me him and a few others out of the shlite a few times.I always had the thought of a winch on a sack barrow and just attaching it with a couple of straps to the front or rear towing points as required with a couple of leads and crocodile leads to attach to the battery and if you had another battery you could in theory attach the winch wherever you wanted until the battery went flat.

Hi. I wouldn't use the rear bull bar  Shocked  this is not strong enough Lewis's idea is very good, the only downside is the weight of the winch, maybe a plasma rope to bring the weight down or a 6000lb rated pull? would need to check the weight difference.
As said! I've a rear winch bolted down on a winch plate thru the floor onto some 5mm angle about 6" long bolted thru the chassis and also using the towbar support bracket. Seems to work okay  Wink
Bazza's idea is good! a winch which can be chained front or rear  Laughing

I just needed something incase my first stint at off roading went abit
wrong. I have a couple of spare batterys in the garage so I will just
get a tow bar adapter and cheap winch for worst case sanario and stick
it in the boot

Thanks again,
Barry!

synthetic rope.
Cheapest option would be a HiLift jack but I would suggest taking two vehicles so one can tow the other. You should never off road alone or you may end up with a broken Delica or worse. I've been out with a manual winch and ground anchor and ended up stuck for over 2 and half hrs stuck under water and ended up blowing up the turbo.

Forgot to mention that my winch is mounted on a towball not the rear 'nudge' bar, which is really only a cosmetic attachment.  Rolling Eyes

It's also had the steel cable replaced with a 'Dyneema' synthetic rope, which is 10 times stronger than steel, plus the winch has a 12,000lb pull rating.

Ahh so you did change the wire rope then  Laughing
The synthetic rope also floats on water but the winch brake drum can get hot and damage it if the protective sheath isn't put on correctly.
Also the synthetic rope won't break and whip back like steel

Couldn't lift the damn thing, with the steel cable on it!  Rolling Eyes

The steel cable on its own weighs 12.7Kg.  Evil or Very Mad The Dyneema one weighs less than 1Kg.  Laughing

I almost ruptured myself coiling the unused steel one up and lifting it up into the loft out of the way.  :?

How about this from the Aussie site? Looks fairly straight forward:

You have to scroll down a bit past the picture of the naked Russian.
