Right then guys and gals, I've got mysef a danita 3000 cb and so far the reception appears to be pretty good however when I'm trying to speak to someone either it isn't getting through or it is but not very clear what would this be????? The signal strength shows a really good level on the LCD display.

Check the SWR of the antennae, it may need tuning in or have a bad earth.  Wink

See the Firestick weblink in this post:- http://www.MDOCUK.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=32177  Wink

Fine tuning can be done by adjusting the Ariel up or down with the Allen key in the base

Don't laugh, you're not talking into the back of the mic are you? Rolling Eyes

I had a Jumbo years back. Not an elephant, you usual suspects!!!! I wasn't speaking into its ar$e!!

Ham International Jumbo base CB.
It had a 'non standard' hand mic and if I picked it up in a rush and got it the wrong way round, I was very 10-1 on the receiving end.
It was a Turner Jm-2u or something similar. Don't know why I remember that? we're talking 30-35 years ago. Jeez!

If your SWR is okay, you're not directional etc, then try a better quality mic.

Just a thought while my cocoa and slippers are warming up... Smile

Our aerials are pretty much tuned you just fine tune them with a SWR as you already seen the RED marker on them is a rough guide to UK setting...blue for EURO.
TBH theres hardly anyone on CB nowadays I just keep mine running for social meetups with friends etc.. if you set yours to EURO AM you tend to get more overseas truck drivers chating on it...[though your not ment to use this in uk ;)  ]

No probs, I seem to have a lot of people around this way who still uses CB's usually selling CB's though which is a bit strange!!!

Anywho, I have managed to speak to a couple of people so it appears to work fine, however I have ordered a SWR meter as it was only 7GBP off fleabay
