Yesterday I bought my first Delica (so welcome to you all), which is a 1994 Space Gear Super Exceed. The radio is working perfectly, but the autochanger does not eject the magazine. It seems as there is no power going to the autochanger. First of all is this a common fault? Does anyone know what the problem maybe? Secondly how do I remove the radio? Is there a special key or anything?

Thank you and i hope someone can help. look forward to talking to people with what I can see so far, is the best vehicle on the road.

Hi, Steelea and Welcome,
I'm from Bournemouth as well, so we may well pass each other... Keep a look out for the yellow Diamond on the windscreen Wink
I put up a link for fitting a band expander with pictures :Click here:

This gives the story of me fitting a Band expander. It was Necessary to remove the radio to do this. The main thing to be wary of is the fragile nature of the plastic surround. (Mine broke as you will see in the photos :? ) It almost definately will break if not handled very carefully Mad It may be as simple as a fuse gone though Idea Have you gone thro the fuse box Question If you get stuck, give us a pm Wink
PS. Did you get it from a dealer? Perhaps they should fix it Exclamation

Hello Russ,

Thanks for the advice and maybe we will pass each other.Look out for a mark II, Dark Blue over Grey. I'll be mainly around the Town Hall as that is where I work.

I presumed the Autochanger was powered by the radio. So I thought if the radio worked then so would the autochanger. Anyway I will check the fuse box and see if anything has blown. I will have to consult the manual to find it first. If not, then the dash will have to come out. I was trying to see how it was removed, and thanks to your photos I should be able to rip it out.

Also do you know what the tyre pressures should be?

Hi, Tyre pressures normally on label on back edge of drivers door. Mine are 30psi. I'm down near Castle lane area. Plastic surround is £80-90! Do not 'rip it out' :? Laughing

Sorry just a figure of speech, but if it ends up being ripped out I will take your advice and gripfil it. :D

I can recieve radio 1, 2CR etc, so I think that an expander has been fitted by the garage I bought it from yesterday. Hopefully then, they have just forgotten about the cable. Fingers crossed.

I'll check the tyres tonight. Nice one. I will let you both know what happens over this weekend.

Glad I came across this site. Be a nightmare to work all this out.

Russ
I bought it from Imperial Cars in Hamworthy. The best condition one I saw. The pedals are mint, the steering wheel doesn't look touched. Others I saw had the leather hanging off and the velour seats were really worn.

Also it's the only one I saw with the extra stereo in the back.

Do you know how powerfull the amp is under the drivers seat or is that standard?

I wanted something for taking the mountain bike in and these are perfect. The aircon is needed after cycling 30 miles. Smile

Speak soon and thanks for your help. I will let you know whether the autochanger works.

Take care

wotcha! and welcome Smile

when we first tried to get our changer to work, we were bitterly disappointed, it was only when hubs had ripped out the whole thing, took it apart as much as he dared to, given it a good clean and tried to replace it, it was only then that he realised that the power lead had been pulled out, maybe this is the first thing to look for on yours?

ours is working a treat now Smile

(thanks to beat ;) ) Smile

Hello Astra,

Thanks for the advice. It seems everyone is agreed that the lead has come out the back. I can recieve radio 1 etc, so it would seem that the garage I bought the Delica from fitted the expander for me, because it had only just come over from Japan. So it would seem that if this is true, then they may have not put it back in properly. I will get the front trim of tonight and see if it's going to be as easy a fix as what has been suggested.

Will keep everyone posted.

Thanks

Hello to all who have been involved in my problem.

I have just removed the dash using the diagram Russ sent a link to. Removed the lot within 5 minutes and yes the cable had become unplugged from the back of the radio Smile It now works like a dream.

While I am here and the advice is great. I hear that 6x9 speakers are a bit of a tight fit at the back of the truck. Any advice on the best speakers to choose for the rear section of the vehicle?

Thanks again

Adie
