Hello Guys n Gals.. Wink

Just popping over from your poor cousins on the POC forum.

There is currently interest on POC for a Blackpool Meet on Sat 29th October 2011.
Detail TBA but looking at Jap 'convoy' along the promenade...  Shocked

Naturally, we'd like to invite you guys along.  :D

Please can you let me know if there is any interest from MDOCUK and I can get organising!

Anyone to help organise at this end would be appreciated.  Wink

Hope to hear from you soon.

Craig.

Craig.
You give day and date, what time of day  Question

Its a heck of a long way for me to arrive at an early time - - work late on weeknights  Sad

If it's an evening meet/run, any suggestions for a campsite  Question

Deker, I recently 'wild camped' in the Deli at this co-ordinate: 53.870725,-3.047633 for a night  (stick it in google maps).  Its just outside of Blackpool in Thornton-Cleveleys. I realize this is not a camp site and is infact a road , so no good with kids etc, but quite good if you are stuck for anything else. It didn't cost me anything either which is always a bonus. Quietish spot save for the taxis bombing through and a couple of blokes fishing when the tide was in, think they were staying in a campervan parked a little further up. I was considering this place for myelf if i decide to stay over but I wouldn't recomend a load of us turn up.

I think the answer to this is in the title.
Not really much point doing am illumination run at 10 in the morn.

Think it's just a general day, evening meet then home.

Last year met up in the late morning, then had afternoon doing own thing,re met early evening and as it got dark did the run through the lights North to South.
Had a bit of hassle sticking together but had a local doing the leading so was reasonably smooth run.

If I go to the "Lights Run" it would be with lady friend, for her wild camping is a No no.

On my own, the trip is too far for one night  Sad

If I wild camped in that area, I would go to Devils Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale,
or better than that, into the Lakes = much nicer  Smile  I've done both in the Deli  Smile

Les, if I were organising a meet/run in that part of the world, to me a run around the "Lakes" in the early part of the day would be a good start.

Do remember I'm a Southener = no mountains "down 'ere"

only 4 hrs? I don't mind the traffic in blackpool at the illumination (if you are in a bit where you can see them that is) I kind of expect it and fill the tank acordingly, its all part of the day, cook t on the go, read a book, snooze, move another two foot :D

I'm thinking of turning up in fancy dress......Smile

BLACKPOOL MEET DETAILS - SAT 29th October 2011

Right guys n gals.

haven't had much time to organise this so its going to be very short n sweet I'm afraid.
With better planning and more time could prob organise something else - maybe next year.

The Plan:
Lunchtime Meeting Point - 12pm - CoastRiders Cafe - WIMBOURNE, CROPPER ROAD, BLACKPOOL, LANCASHIRE. FY4 5LB
Chance to meet up, have a chat, Bonnets Up etc.  :D
The Cafe is open from 9am > 4pm and will be handy for a bacon butty or so, please buy a sarnie or cuppa as a way of saying thanks for letting us use their cafe/car park. It is normally a bikers haunt so expect to see a few two wheeled road users!
I'm afraid I couldn't get 'exclusivity' as the cafe are running a few Halloween events that weekend, maybe next time.  :?

I'd suggest hanging about for an hour or so - then unless anyone has any ideas of what to do in the afternoon (apart from the blinkin pleasure beach Rolling Eyes ) then take the time to do your own thing in the afternoon.

Ideas as a group? I was thinking Blackpool Zoo? Never been, good for kids and adults - done the pleasure beach so many times.  Wink
Evening Meeting Point - 5pm (The sun sets at 5:40!)  Halfords Car Park, BLACKPOOL RETAIL PARK, BLACKPOOL, LANCASHIRE, FY4 3AW
This retail park is next to Blackpool Airport. There is a Morrisons there as well as a Maccy Dees for dinner.  :D
Then we can set off at Approx 6pm from the Airport end of Blackpool and hopefully be able to travel up convoy style through 'the lights'.
I don't have a CB and haven't used one for years so Can't advise on that side of things I'm afraid.  Embarassed

Then, unless anyone wants to meet up afterwards - its 'au revoir' to POC and Blackpool until another time.

ACCOMMODATION - I'm looking at Caravan sites at the moment - I will advise shortly.

Does this sound okay?

Can anyone post this on the ITOC forums? I Can't reset my password....  Embarassed

Okay, so who's coming then? Let me know on the thread along with anything else and I'll build a list here:

1. JockinLeeds (Me!) - I'll be caravanning in the vicinity. - POC Pajero
2. tonentrace - Day Tripping - POC Pajero
3. John 2.5td - Subject to SWMBO authority.. - POC Pajero
4. Mitsi Pajero Babe - some welcome female company - POC Pajero
5. gegs750k4 - Cafe 'animal reunion' ? - POC Pajero
6. Blue Beast - 'prefers north to south' - MDOCUK Delica
7. Beena - 'might be a bit batty!' - MDOCUK Delica
