For what its worth, to block my EGR I simply put in a tight fitting welch plug at the valve end.  No, it does not melt through. Had it in about two years now. the heat at that end never gets that hot to the extent where  you can not put your hand there even after a long drive. Daffy

I went for the full blanking kit and completly removed the EGR valve. If it's not needed get rid :D

If you're unbolting it to put a blank in, you're already half way there to removing it, so you may as well get rid.
