clearing frozen snow of my windscreen i managed to snap the little pin that hold the blade onto the arm.. i could bodge something but the design is pretty rubbish as the blades are so loose and rock around when wiping.. i was wondering if anybody has managed to find a generic replacement arm that fits instead of the originals.. this way i would be able to buy blades from halfords or something instead of the dealers... any ideas?

Are we taking L300 or L400 here?

If it's L300 then the standard arms will take conventional Halfords/Bosch/Champion blades. I've always just gone into Halfords and bought a normal set of blades and never had any trouble fitting them. The 'accessory' fitting kit they supply will pretty much always have the bits you need.

it helps it you have a Halfords Trade-Card though.......a £15 set of wipers works out about £4.00!!!

Sounds like you've got the PIAA wiper arms,I got some Champion universal blades with the adapter kits, was a bit tricky to fit them but once done you can just get Champion  wiper blades.
PIAA sell replacement arms and blades, but £57 a piece.

The Champion blades had 3 different adaptors with each blade, the one that worked was quite a tight fit,but once it's in there is no way it will fall out.

What's odd about the L400 wiper arms is that the rear wiper arm is the hooked tyep but the front pair are the flat ended arms requiring two screws to fit each wiper.

Where's the logic in that?

Wow!

A comment about L400 wipers; on a five year old thread about L300 wipers.  :?

No problem, it just shows that even the oldies are still read.  Laughing

L300 rear wiper yes but thought it was interesting to point out the difference with L400 wipers. Trying  to contribute in the hope someone else benefits that's all.

Sorry to resurrect this all this time later, but for the sake of making the forum search a bit easier - You can always convert your front flat wiper arms to standard U-hook arms with a pair of these OEM MMC wiper arm converters from eBay:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254461492296

Once fitted, any 'standard' wipers will do! thumbright
