reading this any large car with a high towing limit even if towing a small trailer has to stick to 80kmh to stay legal,Delis would fall into this. :? _________________ Star Wagon super exceed auto(Now sadly gone),Galaxy Ghia 130,Hyundai i800 |

Hi
Reading this it seems that a Deli towing any trailer under a combined total of 3500kg will be deemed to exceed the 3500kg weight combination as it is CAPABLE of towing in excess of that weight so will be limited to 90/80 kph. BUT there must be a database to base the French Gendarme's suspicions on and thereby lies the problem. There are several posts on here about the paperwork required by the French authorities to register a Deli in France, usually requiring axle weights etc. The Japanese wil not supply MTM figures as they don't tow in Japan. Also is the Deli classed as a Deli, L400 or Space Gear?
Our experience a few years ago on our first day on holiday in France was as the local Gendarmes pulled in all the cars heading into a village for a traffic check, ourselves included, solo not towing. The look on the plod's face was brilliant, he looked at the bullbars then the spots and fogs, then the plate, then the 'driver' who was Ann in the passenger seat who gave him a disarming smile :D then shrugged and waved us out probably thinking what on earth this thing was he had stopped, his colleagues had 'boring' things like Citroens .
I suspect this is one law that will not be enforced due to technical problems.
Cheers

That seems the general feeling that many drivers and police will ignore it,but forewarned and all that _________________ Star Wagon super exceed auto(Now sadly gone),Galaxy Ghia 130,Hyundai i800 |
