Hi
I received this email from Mitsubishi Customer Services earlier today:

I can now confirm that we have received a response from Mitsubishi Motors. They have confirmed that you vehicle is included in the Fuel Pump Cold Start Lever recall.

Please contact your local Mitsubishi dealership in order to have this work completed free of charge.

To locate your nearest agent, please visit the below website address.

www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk

I trust this information is of assistance.

Yours sincerely

VICTORIA ROLFE
Customer Services Advisor

My question now is - given the age of the vehicle is it all likely that in the intervening years that this issue may have been fixed as a matter of course or at a service or as a result of some other visit to a garage.
I suppose what I am asking is if the vehicle is running well anyway am I opening a can of worms by having this work done?   How will I know if has or has not already been done? What does the Fuel Pump Cold Start Lever actually do or what was the fault with them?

Thoughts please
Thanks
Joseph

the fault was that they were cracking/splitting, then they would fail and you would have starting problems.
if it had been done, it would not be flagged up on the system. however, when i was doing these recalls, many of the vehicles recalled had a different set up to the one in the recall so no work was needed, this could only be noted on inspection as the chassis number doesn't tell them which variation of pump it has on it.

better getting it checked out anyway, after all, its free  :D

My mitsi went in Friday morning 9:30am for the recall work.....Friday evening 5:30pm...Hi there your car is almost done however the engineer isn't happy with something to do with the coldstart lever upgrade. may we keep the car in until Saturday so he can contact japan to get an answer before he will let the vehicle out. its to do with the idle speed possibly revving up to high.

hmm don't sound too good lol its times like this I start to think back to that old saying...if it isn't broken don't try and fix it!
Will keep you all upto date on whats going on :D
