Hi all, I'm looking at buying a Deli and getting it imported, i have looked at a few sites but unsure about trusting them and the best way to go about importing, do i get a garage to doit or do i go direct? i currently have a 95 Deli and love it, but want to get a newer model http://www.tradecarview.com/used_car/japan_car/mitsubishi/Delica+Space Gear/1522953/ this site has a few on but I'm after that shape in the top spec with all the trimmings and lower milage. anyone know a good importer in the north yorkshire area? or any numbers i can contact someone on to talk about it? |

Ebony & Ivory have a good reputation, i think they are up near you.
Just beware the YEN has rocketed (read nearly doubled) against the pound and right now importing does not make financial sense. _________________ #1 Vehicle: Mitsubishi Legnum VR4 Type S

I've imported my own from Japan twice and it was a steep learning curve.don't forget on top of the "FOB" price you have
1) FOB price
2) shipping, maybe £750
3)10% Import duty on FOB + Shipping
4) VAT on total of FOB+Shipping+Import Duty
5)On The Road Costs ie; fog light, tyres?, MOT, speedo conv., number plates, registration road tax etc.
It is a rewarding experiance once its all done, but when you look at current UK values of Delicas at the moment, unless you are looking for a specific model, it's not cost efficient at the moment. The most important thing to get right is finding the right agent in Japan. Always get agent to buy direct from auction, never buy anything thats "In stock." My first attempt was a disaster! Second attempt was perfect. |

Thanks Jem, thats some really good information, any any info is good but i've come to the conclusion that with the current economic climate I'm going to wait untill next year and see whats happening in the world, this will give me more time to save aswell.
