having windows tinted on wed the limo tint , the car has the silver privacy glass , which the man whom is tinting it is unsure of what the final look will be as hes not done one over silver privacy glass before , somthing like black with a silver tint is all he can say , has anyone had this done if so dose it look okay , also not doing the back limo just 20 % but how dark can you do the back and still see the mirror out of glass , need the mirror to reverse in case i have a blond moment and forget how long the car is .
thank you

The silver effect is from a sheet of silver film applied to the inside of the glass.  You don't want to apply tint on the top of that.  :?

Remove the window surrounds and you will be able to lift the edges of the film up and remove it.

Then just clean the windows down with some solvent to remove the adhesive and then some meths to clean of the glass and get it ready for tinting.

thats what we thought and what they were going to do , but when we took it down to spire tints to take a look , on closer inspection the glass is privacy glass , not tinted glass , so were told thats how the glass is made and there is no tint to take off , if that makes sence , they are having the car overnight so they can take the windows out , as it needs to dry before they fasten the window openers back in

Hi M8,
Yeah I have the mirror glass fitted to mine and have limo tint applied, it looks great, you don't see the black matrix as the whole window looks much the same.

Some times it looks black and some times it looks mirror depending on the angle you look at the window.

What are they charging you? :D
Ken

Hi M8,
I would go for the 20% on the rear, you will still be able to use the mirror  during the day but not at night. If find a 20% is still safe at dusk when some people have head lights on and some don't.

I bought my Deli with tints, it has limo on the sides but is ilver on the rear.

You Can't see in  it, but is much lighter looking out....almost normal.

THat said i have an all silver Deli so looks okay, might not on green and blue ones tho.

Hi all  Wink

Was just having a read as this is a subject I have been wondering about. I have a black on silver L400 with silver privacy glass which I thinks looks good. The only thing I think lets the side down tho is the front driver and passenger window. can you get these tinted and still be road legal?
:?

I've had this debate with Ken ( who should know as he is a pro tinter by trade ) and he says that as long as the tint still allows 70% light through then you are legal.. ( Hope I understood him right  Embarassed )

Sure he will correct me if I'm wrong
