Just for your info guys(and girls)
Wink
Saved up for a couple of years and we have just returned from 4 weeks in New Zealand...
I have never seen so many Delis!
:D
I realise that they are nearer to Japan(and also drive the correct side of the road!)
Most of them appear to be well used and covered in mud/dirt/sand/snow (depending which Island and if it belongs to a snowboarder or surfer!)
I was told off by my wife several times because I kept waving to the drivers and she reminded me that we were in a hire CAR (Toyota) and...
not in our Deli so they just stared at us and probably would point us to the nearest funny farm!
Rolling Eyes
The only downside one of them told me as we were chatting is that their government has recently introduced a "green tax" on all desiel powered vehicles and not on petrol ones! ..pay as you drive!!!Almost all Delis have the diesel engine in NZ
but they will now be looking to get their hands on any 3000cc petrol powered ones instead...
So if you want to see them in their element go to New Zealand.
PS I actually e mailed some of the car hire firms (not the main Avis etc but some cheaper ones) and no-one had any Delis on their books...to hire
just info on the lighter side

Funny you should mention that as yesterday I was looking up the website for the firm that did Converted Deli campers for hire:- http://www.rentalz.co.nz/

They have changed their website company name to:- http://www.backpackernz.co.nz but have stopped doing the L400 Camper, probably due to the 'Green Tax' you mention.  :?  Crying or Very sad
