:? Boss just bought me a 600 Watt Inverter to power the Photo copyer in the back of my motor.........Work and all that but, what my question is,

The leads clip straight to the battery so is it a case of cliping them on every time I use it or can you leave the inverter attached whist driving.

Second How do you huck up two battries and were do you put the second one Question

This just might be in the wrong place now I've written it Sorry :? Question Shocked :?

I think providing you follow all the usual safe wiring practices i.e. grommets where wires pass thro bulkheads, appropriate size cable to handle the loads and solid fixings etc, then all will be okay. I think I'd stick an appropriate fuse as nr to the Batts as poss as well. Usually, or at least mine has an On/Off switch on it...

As far as the 2 Batts are concerned... I've only got the one, so I'll let someone who's got the two explain that one Wink I think the Batts are next to each other. Don't know the charging arrangments tho i.e. whether it's split charged or what...

A 300 watt inverter can run off the accessory/ciggie lighter socket which is useful as it turns off when you turn the ignition right off so less chance of leaving the vehicle with something draining the battery. The croc clips aren't really the best way to connect direct to the battery. You'd be better of buying a pair of proper screw terminal to fit on the battery terminal clamps. So long as you switch the inverter off there will be no current draw on the battery.

You may want to read this first:
(all on one line)
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=36316&TabID=3&WorldID=&doy=11m12

especially this:
Q: Under no load conditions does the inverter still present a load to the car battery (John: 15/11/2004 15:38:55 )
A: Yes

I should think that should read 'only if switched on', if the inverter is switched off it must be isolated from the source :? I think :? Laughing

i think the switch is only to turn the plug socket side off, not the feed side, so it will still draw feed, my advice is put a switch in the feed side wiring 8)
p.s. they don't work on kettles, it keeps switching on and off Crying or Very sad (not mine, i have a customer with one)

You can't run a kettle because the are to high powered our Delica has 2 batterys in the front of the bonnet you got 1p off Smile The load presented by the inverter when it is on no load is very low (ran on my 300w 12v PSU.)
