May be a bit late, but here's my outfit, the van's an Elddis Crusader Sirocco and it weighs in at 1900kg laden!
The photo was taken prior to upgrading my rear springs, so the van now sits perfectly level whilst towing, it's very stable on the move and the car flies up hills since the turbo mod was done.

Yep, getting on a bit now as it's over 5 years old, but we've extended the warranty as it's such a nice van and nothing new offers any more than this one. Just sutck some lovells springs under the Deli as the h/d landrover (britpart ones) were starting to sag, should keep us happy for a few more years Laughing

Celebrating now cos Stoke City are in the Premiership Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

The springs are lovells rfr20 hd, range rover fronts. I have read some where on here they're no longer available from maddison 4x4 but you can try them. Alternatively contact Bruce aka mystery machine as he has helped loads out for springs.

Anyone around here who's pulled a caravan with an L300? Do they go okay with the smaller (than the L400) engine? If so any pics please?

:D Here is our outfit last year

The Deli has new rear springs fitted (via Bruce) and is level when hitched.

This was a try out trip before 3 weeks in France in June 2007.  A good time was had by all :D  :D

Cheers

Just to add to what David has said, we've also fitted shocks to the caravan, you can notice the difference when being overtaken by really large lorries, no 'sway' at all  :D

Yep got to admit I am pleased with the Delica and the Caravan.  Tows well, would just like to stiffen up the rear suspension.  One of those jobs I need to get around to.

Auto box on the Delica and the Power Touch mover fitted make manoeuvring a doddle. I can recommend a caravan mover. Have class 1 (C+E) but the still a god send in tight spaces.

The Delica tow’s well the only thing is, we cannot seem to pass fuel stations!!!!! On the upside, drive there in comfort and when we arrive we can stay in comfort so it is well worth it.

Cheers Mike

Yes i can say i had my worries to , but mainly for the autobox . but owning my Deli for a half a year now , proved a to be wonderful piece of machinery , i towed my race car on a heavy trailer to the UK in februari to santa pod race way. (trailer weight is 700 kilo plus lancer evo on it ) i use it also for my shop to bring cars to the car painter , and last month we went from Holland to Luxembourg true the ardenne (you really have to climb , lorries have max speed of 30 km/h)
The Delica was towing a 1300 kilo caravan easy into the hills. even 100km /h  is no problem (only forbidden) yust don,t overdo it . there was also a vw camper witch past us on the straights of the motorway but when the first hills arrived  it had to take it,s place behind the lorries while the Delica was doing 80 km/h hill up whit out problems .  So go for it

Hi, I've used a frontera for many years and after admiring the Deli for many more, went and bought one for towing, comfort and all the other good bits...And after wondering how it would tow as I wasn't sure about the auto box have found it to be great, handles well and cruises really well forever at 55-60mph,

Would it be possible for someone to post a picture of their Delica with a caravan on the back (hitched), as i hope can understand I'm hopefully moving over from a landrover, and the Delica is somewhat taller and slimmer, i just want to get the image in my head.

is there any known problems towing with the Delica? we are due to pick up our brand new caravan shortly, and weight is 1360kg , is this sort of weight a problem for the Delica , or am i just been paranoid?

thanks in advance,

Martin

Sorry for not reading the entire thread...

The wheel base is 110" ( the same as a 110 Defender) and the track is about 1" wider...

How do I know ??? I parked it beside my mates TD5 110 Defender when he commented how narrow the Delica was....

So in short it has the same footprint as a 110 !!

hope that helps a little for you

Earlier in the thread, you asked about a bike rack for the Deli. I have just fitted a Witter on mine which still allows the use of the towball for towing. I fitted the 2 hole plate first, then a spacer, then the towball.
The main support bar slots into the plate, then the top carry forks slot on top of the support bar. It is very strongly made bit of kit. I only carry 1 bike, but the paperwork says it carries up to 4.
Best about it is you do not need any tools to dismantle it, and a simple bike lock makes it theft proof when your having a cuppa. Wink
