can anyone help ? Delinewby and myself have spent all afternoon trying to sort out the fuel pump timing on hi Delica.......
we removed the radiator etc.etc........ finally we removed the vacuum pump, to agin access to the timing marks on the fuel pump gear, timed up the engine to TDC using both crank and camshaft marks, NO MARKS ON THE FUEL PUMP GEAR !!!!!! ??????? turned the engine over again twice, examined the gear closely , still no timing marks on the pump gear, in fact there were no marks whatsoever on the gear or timing casing......... has anybody any ideas  ???? any help would be appreciated    cheers Steve Lucky

Hi I did this job a few weeks ago and on mine there was a mark on one of the teeth on the pump (94 L400 ) it is about 1mm ground straight off the gear, but you do have to make sure you clean the oil off to see it. It's easily missed  Embarassed . hope this helps.

seriously the ground off tooth can be easily missed. I had my pump off and couldn't find it for about ten minutes of looking.

Have you actualy been looking at the gear while turning the engine ?

If the pump is timed wrong which is what we think then maybe when the engine is at TDC the mark is out of site...

if that makes sense

I had mine reconditioned with my mate doing the main bearings and machining it still cost £200 so £100 don't sound bad, I had the pump on the bench to find marks ground tooth pump on pump side of gear.

I've done my pump before and if i remember correctly you Can't see the marks through the vacume pump hole. The mark is on the inner side of the teeth which you can see with the pump off, you line it up with the mark on the pump body/flange.  Give me a mo i'll get a pic for you .....
