|
|
Hi All,
I can't for the life of me see how to get at the upper mounts for the
bullbars. The ones that disappear into a hole in the front. I've crawled
underneath and looked at removing the front trim to get in but really
can't see how to get at them.
Can somebody whose pulled theirs off at some point let me know the
right way to go about it?
Thanks, sorry if I'm just being dumb. I don't have a drive so I don't
like spending too long under the Deli in the street, especially the way
people use your bumpers for parking round here.
Thanks

Sorry in advance for not being helpfull,
I didn't take mine off, I used them to mount the spotlights.
It dosn't look too difficult with a spanner through the hole the mounts come out of, but I havn't done it so don't know.
Reading it again, you have to take all the plastic bits off the bullbar first. if this is what you mean by trim.

Thanks
Should of been more clear. I took off the plastic trim on the
bullbars. But I was thinking I may have to remove the trim on
body itself.
I'll give the spanner through the hole idea a go though.
Cheers

Spanner won't move much but should be enough to get it off. won't be easy getting it back on again!!!!!
My next job is to grind the numberplate bracket off (carefully)
and put a strip plate under the grill.

Hiya Dom.......
I've done it
Two bolts easy to undo from underneath the bus where the bottom tubes of the bar connect back to the chassis
THEN
Remove the plastic trim from the top of the bar to access four bolts, two each side to two brackets that project out through the front grille into the back of the bullbar
That gets you the bar off
BUT
you are left with two brackets sticking out of the grille
There are two methods to get these off
1/ Bumper off so you can access the two bolts per bracket that bolt through into the top of the front chassis rails... I DID NOT do this as I was unsure at the time how the bumper comes off BUT now know this is actually fairly easy
2/ ring spanner through the grille and a LABOURIUOSLY SLOW job of slowly managing to undo the four bolts with the bumper still on....I cut part of my plastic grille away with a bare hacksaw blade to get move turning movement with the ring spanner
Good Luck

P.S. When you next in Bingdon? |

Dom, there are some ratchet ring spanners available for a few quid that will make the job a lot easier. All you need to do is move them too and fro a few degrees. Easier than the ring one which you have to take off the nut and reposition every time.
If I had one I'd lend it you but unfortunately I don't! Halfrauds do them though. _________________ Pete

Thanks Joolz & Pete for the tips.
I'm gonna have a go later this week. I'll let you know how I get on.
I've seen the spanners your talking about Pete, might have to invest in
a small set as I have plans to replace the bull bars with something a bit
more custom and don't fancy doing it all the slow way!!
Joolz I'll be back in a couple of weeks. I was back for a flying visit week
before last, managed to find time to get the Deli muddy up the ridgeway
Thanks
Dom
ps. Pete was me behind you as you went onto New England Street, you
were at the end of the road before I even got out the junction, that evo
is quick!!! _________________ ~-----------------------~
