My Falken LandAir A/T's are in need of replacment soon so was wondering if what the maximum size BF Goodrich A/T's I could fit on a standard 15" Deli wheel? I'm lookiing for something that looks wide on the rims (good n meaty!).

That depends if you want to make any other mods eg 31/10.5r15 fit but rub without a little nursing with a hammer BFG AT's cost £86 each for this size online .. I was looking only last night. Obviously this is plus fitting.

I would not recommend fitting anything bigger than a 30/9.5/15 on a standard rim (or 235/75/15)

I know some people who have fitted 31's on the standard rims, but the amount of sidewall flex/bulge you get is actually unsafe and if you were to have an accident you may well find that the insurance won't pay out because you were running an unsafe size on the rim. Why take the risk?

Stick to the safe option of the two sizes listed above and you won't go far wrong.

(alternatively, find some Pajero 7" rims and go for the 31's.... :D )

That is kinda worrying Bruce I've had them on since I got the beast. Must admit I only wanted to change them as the tyres rub the front arches even without the mud flaps. But that has worried me somewhat especially having the two little ones, wife, two dogs and potentially 1/5 ton Caravan on the back a few times this year.

Question is would those Colways be okay as they are Retreads aren't they ? Bruce could you let me know if you have received my cheque please... not had chance to check my account so don't know. Thanks. I really need to speak with you anyway about this lift so will give you a call later..

Hi Chris,

Got the cheque (thanks  Wink ) and hoping to get the parts shipped up to you next weekend or the weekend after (whichever Eddie can do?)

Give me a call tomorrow - I'm off out tonight for a few beers, a curry and a few more (aka MANY more) beers!!  Twisted Evil

Cheers for now,

Bruce.

Cheers Mystery M,

30x9's are fitted at the mo. So then... I'm looking at BF Goodrich 235x75x15's as recommended. Are 255's 'taller'? What is the difference?

Thanks

Go for the 30's again if you can.

235's are bigger than standard, but not as big as the 30's (and 255's are a different kettle of fish altogether)

Given the choice I'd go for 30" tyres over 235's......and BFG's are a fantastic make of tyre.

Hope that makes sense?

Right - go to go....need to drink and eat and be merry!  Laughing  Rolling Eyes  Laughing  Rolling Eyes

I only seem to see tyres advertised in the format 235x75x15 rather than 30x9 etc. Why the two different measurements and can you recommend a supplier of 30x9 BFG AT's?

to get a general feel for tyre sizes, this is a useful site...

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

it will only do metric (235x75x15) type calculations, but will show differences in height, width, etc and speedo differences between tyres Smile

Here is a list showing the differences in the tyres discussed... concern is the difference in speedo / odometer readings with the tyres being suggested

225/80r15 is the standard size in addition to the 235/75r15 I think anything over 3% is not advisable according to the website.

Chris,

When doing these comparisons enter 225/80R15 as the stock tyre, as it is the OEM size fitted at the factory which the Dash instruments are calibrated for.  That is then what everything else has to be compared to. Any other size will give the wrong info for odometer / and diameter differences.  Wink

Lewis I thought both the 225 and 235 were stock sizes... Once again Lewis you have shown me the light. Thanks

Although the physical tyre dimensions are close, the 235 is the normal equivalent used in the UK, it still has an effect on the odometer reading. That can be seen on this chart I made earlier for those wanting to keep as close as possible to the OEM 15" outer diameter wheel size, with Warrior L200 16" rims, to save having to recalibrate the odometer.

Looking at this post as i am thinking of taking off the 31 10.50 r15 as they are rubbing when cornering. But i like the stance of the truck with them on. I was thinking of fitting 255.70.r15  or even 255.75.r15 or the other one is I see Pajero wheel on flee bay that have the 265 tyres fitted would these fit . Is there any difference between a new shape  or old shape Pajero for the wheels PCD? Lewis ???HELP

I run 31" tyres (31/10.5/15) on standard Pajero rims,
slight re-work of some of the front arch  Wink

no problems and agreed it gives a good stance

I don't have a lot of knowledge on the different Paj wheels, Redneck & Mystery Machine would be more use than I on that score.

I do have a set of four Paj teardrop pattern wheels that I bought and cleaned up to put on mine.  I then decided not to as I would have needed to slightly adapt the centres to allow the hubcap ring prongs to fit through and also buy some domed nuts for them, as my collared ones didn't fit.  The wheels fitted perfectly as long as I didn't put the hubcap retaining rings on.

I guess I will have to get them out and decide what to do with them.  :?
