Just wondered what other members are running. I'd like to keep two sets of rims one with off road tyres and one set with road wheels.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also where is a good place to try for supplies.
I've tried mytyres.net, blackcircles etc but they are just prices they don't mean anything to me, they may be rudy awful despite the price or vice versa.
Any help appreciated. _________________ 100% BIO DIESEL ! Well not quite at the moment

I've been running road biased falken ATs (t110s) getting good wear on them (20000km+) and theyve only gone down about 1mm in wear (11mm to go!)
lot quiter than my old bridgestones that came on the car, tread pattern is the same as their boy racer tyres, but with a deeper tread
off road theyre allright, but i think proper AT tyres would murder them.. |

Toyo Open Country All Terrain tyres. That is what is on my Deli, i have only used it for road use and they seem fine to me.
They cost me about £400.00 for 5

Unless you are going to do some really serious off-road stuff AND you like frequently changing wheels on a two ton motor, then it may be best to get some serious quality AT tyres.
BFGs?

don't really go off road much - occasional beach, towing the caravan across the odd field (or swamp this summer in Somerset). came with yoki geolanders on the back (worn straight from japan) and khumos on the front (new fitted by dealer) the khumos were pants and lasted no time, the yokis are still there...i keep thinking they will wear out...i am begineing to think magic is involved!
Fitted a pair of cheapo maxxis on the front while waiting for the rears to wear out on the advice of the local tyre guy ("they aint the worlds best but they are okay, they don't blow out and the moneys right mate!") and I have to say they are fine and they seem to be wearing okay and i think we paid £110 the pair fitted...Can't grumble! They are the Marauder model and have a AT type tread...ragged a Deli, 1500 kg of van and a load of ppl & kit across a very wet and muddy field okay!
horses for courses i guess....other than that for road biased if you can get Avons in your size ...well i like Avons - had em on all sorts for years and i swear by em - others disagree but it would be boring if we were all the same! _________________ A Delica - ITS LIKE A SWEDISH BRICK...ONLY BIGGER! |

For general road and the odd bit of off-road then I personally don't think you can beat BF Goodrich AT's.
These are generally a bit more expensive than similar treaded tyres - but last forever!!
All round road holding/handling/grip and traction is excellent when considering how capable they are off-road too! Road noise is minimal and the quality of construction superb!
So far, of all the BFG's I've used or heard of, they perish from old age before the tread gets worn out! (I'm talking 10yrs+!!)
They come in a full range of Deli friendly sizes and I've heard a lot of good things from other L400 Deli owners about these tyres (generally in the 235/75/15 size...)
Regards,
Bruce. _________________ '93 L300 Mystery Machine (Now in the hands of a new owner)

Thanks everyone, it really is a minefield isn't it. A mate of mine runs MS Pirelli Scorpions on his Disco and swears by them but my god they are pricey. But must admit if you guys are saying no need for different wheels looks like BFG's could be the solution. _________________ 100% BIO DIESEL ! Well not quite at the moment

Hi
I must echo Bruce's comment, I've been running BFG ATs for the last three years and there's still loads of wear left in them. They have plenty of grip on road while still being pretty quiet given their fairly agressive tread pattern, they also perform well off road on mud and sand. If you're not going for really serious off-roading I'd save the hassle and expense of two sets of wheels/tyres and go for the ATs.

Are you sure he's swearing by the tyres and not at the Disco breaking down again? _________________ Happiness is being owned by a Jack Russell Terrier! |

Absolutely his Disco is in excellent condition and gets whatever it needs. He is an awesome mechanic and a perfectionist. He is my mate Scotty15 who is a member on here and the guy who did my fuel pump.
I think he was swearing at the Deli more than his Disco believe me _________________ 100% BIO DIESEL ! Well not quite at the moment

I really can't fault the bridgestone Dueller AT as factory fitted...
I have been off road in mud etc with them and no problem
I use Colway MT tyres for playing but I don't mind wheel swapping. _________________ Regards

Can you still buy Colways?
My Pajero's had Colway ATs on for the last two years and I've had no problems on road or in field. 8)
Colways are re-treads.

I found a place in Southend doing Scorpions for £256 for all 4 fitted.
http://www.jettyres.co.uk/
Phoned up, and he was out of stock, typical I thought, it's just a scam to get you interested, but instead he offered me 4 GoodYear's for the same price.
I couldn't beat it anywhere else local, and I'd heard of the make, so thats what I got.
Can't comment on life expectancy as I haven't had them very long, but they are nice and quiet on road, and look like they should be good enough off road,
The important bit for me..... they had white letters (sad I know)

colway AT's don't like sticky mud, of which we have quite a lot in 'Great' Britain
From experience they clog really quickly and it's game over
But, they have reasonable road manners, grip / noise etc and they are silly cheap
That said, though I had no problems with my set, friends with Colway AT / MT / Macho's have suffered de-lamination during road use.
So I'll buying BF At's for the Deli |

I use Camac A/T's on road and off road and they are great, it has to be deep mud before they strugle for grip. I had BFG's once and found them over priced and just okay on and off road and had one split for no reason what so ever _________________ I may not be perfect but it scares me how close to it i am

Hi all,
Just had Enduro Runway AT's fitted, surprisingly quiet, well mannered and stacks of grip off road, Really pleased with them, They where highly rated on a number of sites i looked on, including the landrover off road site and an awdc site i went on. They cost £240.00 for four fitted with the tracking done. drove from devon up to cardiff and followed Rally GB around, had a blast until radiator failed, got home okay, put 2 sticks of bars link stop in.... need a new rad still.
Didn't want to get recovered and miss the millenium indoor stage, so ginger footed it back from the beacons to cardiff, but it was fine. cleared a path through all the standing water for the cars following us... was like the parting of the red sea in places, swamped a transit going around one of the huge puddles at a snails pace, went straight through and the water came down on top of it LMAO a lil clio followed us and drove through without a splash on them.
