Colways are, unless I'm very much mistaken, all re-treads, or re-moulds.

The c-tyres site certainly suggests that the tyres undergo the most vigorous of inspections prior to being re-treaded, but others on here have suggested they'd never consider/trust a re-tread.

Strangrover has some Colway retreads that have split and worn quite badly.  No doubt he will have a piccy to put on here of them?

I have used Colway tyres on all my 4x4's

I have indeed got a split in one of mime and some tread comming off another, neither caused my ON ROAD use but off road use.

I would whol heartedly support the use of remoulds if price is an issue. The tyres are tested and safe, providing you get the one for you with the correct speed and weight rating.

They do however seem more prone to damage off road than new branded tyres, now for most people thats fine as the stivk on some M/T pattern Colways only for fun.

Colway make an A/T pattern tyre that would be fine for road and green lane use, however my experience is that re-moulds wear out faster, so although cheaper to buy if you do a reasonable mileage then in the long run a more expensive tyre, e.g. a BF Goodrich at £100 or so will work out cheaper over 60,000 miles as thats how long a BFG A/T can last.

also look at changing your tyre size, 235/75/15 is a more common size, the speedo will still be correct and they look better !

i have thought about that,

but at the momemt i only need one tyre as it has worn badly on the outside (needs tracking doing whan new tyre on ) so iam going to put one new tyre on and put the spare on the other side and the better tyre for the spare
also it would work out too expensive at moment for more than one (as i would need to replace them alll)

Hello, I have been using Runway Enduro A/T 235 70 15s for about 2 years (All 4 on at the same time)
They cost £175 plus fitting at the time. They had 12 mm tread then. They have 8 mm front and 10 mm rear now. I've done 20,000 miles since fitting.  I have found them okay "off road" and no bother on. I generally run in 4WD all the time. I run them at just over the Deli recomended pressure - couple of lbs - they look a little softish but perform okay.

I will be fitting them again when needed.

    Good luck with your search.

I seem to recall something about Insa, Runway and Kumho tyres all being the same factory items with different brand mouldings, But don't quote me on that.

Hi there, I have an unusual size tyre on my Deli 245/70/16. I purchased a new set of 4 Cooper A/T's from future 4 x 4 for £283 inc delivery not bad considering they are a minimum of £100 each plus VAT around here. Future 4 x 4 are advertised in most 4 x 4 magazines. Hope this is of some help. They also sell the alloy wheels aswell.

    Debs :D
