In this picture, my 2.8 leaks from the base of the pipe at 3, what appears to be an O ring? I was wondering if anyone else had a leak there and if it was a failed seal or a corroded 'stat housing.

Here's a photo of the 2.8TD 4M40 engine Thermostat housing:-

The Mitsubishi Part number is:-

MD030763 - 'O' Ring, Water Cooling Line. Qty 2.

You can also get boxes of mixed 'O'ring sets from your local Halfords branch.

Yeah I've got plenty of O-rings at work, it was just the best way of getting the housing off since it has 2 solid pipes going into it?

With much cussing & swearing! Seriously tho it does come off with a lot of jiggery pokery but it is tight.

I did mine yesterday the O rings I had were too small so I will have to phone the dealers 2morra and get some real ones.

New turbo cooling Banjo washers are a good Idea also (but I had those in stock - copper 12mm i.d.
