Hi all, just about to start towing and found that my old mirrors don't fit the Delica's ears

Does anyone know of a good make that will stay put what driving at 60?

The mirrors I use are ' Rock Steady Towing Mirrors ' made by Pyramid, at about £20 ish per pair, I Can't remember where I bought them from but they are good, there is a picture of them on this site,
http://www.practicalcaravan.com/product/apr06.html
go to the bottom of page, you will see they have swapped the image with the 'suck it and see' mirror in error.

I've had no problem with the chrome covers and visibility is good, don't try the 'suck it and see' - I have and IMHO they are absolutely awful, the sucker covers the main area of your existing mirror and the extension mirror is poor quality and too small. HTH

Cheers

David

Thanks, Just took the caravan for a pre-outing shakedown, kick the tyres etc.  Smile

First time towing with the Delica, what with sitting so high up and the caravan having a side washroom I can see straight through the middle.  :D

So maybe I won’t need to use the mirrors that much anyway.  :D  :D

Sure beats the old car and my old land rover at pulling, did not fill like it was attached. Just got to get use to the speed that the fuel gauge will drop now.

Hi,

I use a set of these

http://www.milenco.co.uk/mirror-milenco.html

they just clamp to the top of the mirror surround - not sure if they fit with chrome covers though,

means you can use normall mirrors most of the time,

I do find the passenger one can vibrate a bit though, but handy for reversing.

forgot to add - if your towing load is wider than vehicle then you need mirrors legally  Crying or Very sad

hth

Hi I used the bog standard raydot mirrors that I had, and used a piece of s/steel about 3" long and 3/4"  wide, hole at each end and removed the hinge screw, screwed the metal in and used a small nut and bolt on the other, instead of the basic V shape it now has a sq/ shape, and still uses the rubber straps and clips on my chrome mirror a treat, hth, if someone needs a picci let me know,jb.

Just done the Raydot conversion as suggested by Saint.

Used thick plastic off a file binder rather than metal.

Quick, easy and don't need a new pair.  :D

sorry could'nt resist that. milenco mirrors for me. and yes it is a legal requirement if your towing, and they have to be graded to E2 standard. (read that somewhere, but don't know what it means or if it is law?) Wink
