I've been given a set of 2 very old Danita beta 2 handheld cb radios that actually work hehe.

What I want to do is to be able to use my normal 80 chanel CB radio in my car with these 2 radios that I
can give to my parents/sister etc for when we travel in convoy.

Heres the statistics on the handhelds...

http://radiopics.com/CB_Radio/Other%20CB/1-Handheld/Danita/Danita%20Beta%202.htm

are they so archaic that they just won't work with my modern car CB??

I tried scanning for chanels on my car cb whilst talking on the hand helds but nothing was picked up Sad

Any ideas??

Old 40 fm and the newer (cept) 40 fm channels are slightly different frequencies I think..???

you may be able to pick them up on an older (27/81) CB.. a few of these 2 channel handhelds are on channels 14 and 30...
(I used to have a Harvard hand held that had ch14, 30 and ch9 for emergencies)

Either that or the crystals have deteriorated and may be off frequency..??
(some reomte control cars have problems with crystals..)

HTH.

"old" UK Channel 01 = 27.6012
"old" UK Channel 40 = 27.9912
CEPT UK Channel 01 = 26.965
CEPT UK Channel 40 = 27.405

The hand helds in question are 26.965-27.405 MHz and so are somewhere in the newer CEPT band although it doesn't say exactly which channels.
So if your CB covers the CEPT band and you can't here it..... bin it.

Your 80 channel cb covers the old UK 40, as wel as the European frequencies, which means that one block of 40 will match the 40 on the handhelds.
