I have noticed in The Beast that the speedo is surging every now and again (mainly when I brake). I whizzes up to 80mph and straight back down again . Has anyone else had similar or does anyone know what is going on and how I can stop it????? :?

Sounds like it could be an electrical fault, maybe a bad earth on the back of the speedo pod (maybe when removed to fit chip for speedo if fitted!)or it could be loose connections in general on the speedo pod if its been disturbed in anyway, now if the needle has been taken of to apply a new speedo face there is a possibility that its not seated correctly that could also give rise to the problem,
At worst it could be a problem with the speedo pick up sensor on the gearbox, first thing to do is check the connections on the speedo pod if its been removed at all, then the needle but be very very careful with it tho,and if all else fails then the speed sensor could be the fault,if it were me it would be going back to the dealer to sort out,at least if they break owt then its down to them to replace it.

Check the connections on the gearbox for security and cleanlines
(I Know they are ment to get muddy)
Just oily/water type mess can give funny symtoms but primarily for green corrosion on the contacts.
When ours was rewired after the GBox harness burn out, it loosened off and gave some pretty stunning 0-140-0 acceleration effects with the Gbox doing a tapdance up and down faster than Fred Astaire.
Hope this is of help
Regards
