In the process of buying a L400 at the moment part exchanging our old faithful L300.( will be missed as she has been very reliable. pump just started leeking a bit was only quoted about £100 to repair by tom days but we decided to have a change and trade in for a newer model).

There was a few thing they had to do to it and the central locking was stuffed so they replaced the lot with all new parts. Can't be bad!

Not collected it yet so will let you know how we get on.

Aust.

H all.
we got our L400 on Friday and it would'nt start.( no fuel in it.)
anyway got home and had a little look round there were a couple of things but nothing major.

On sat morn it would'nt start again, rubbish glow plugs and again on Sun.
I took it over this morning (mon) to get it booked in for the work to be done and I will be tacking it over tomorrow.

List of jobs include:
drivers mirror flapping around(kept in place by cable tye)
fromt ball joints should have been picked on MOT realy!!!!
side door handle snapped nearly hanging off.
sticky light relay (lights get stuck on.)

other than a few things wich I will fix myself she seems a fine machine.

I will keep you posted.

Aust.

Hi Austde,
Surely these faults should have been fixed & a service done prior to the vehicle being offered for sale?
I looked at several of their Delicas back in July. None of them were particularly tidy, most with flat batteries. The best of the bunch was an N reg low top for £5500. When I asked the salesman if he would fix the 5 or 6 faults I had found & give it a service he walked away laughing.
I ended up buying an immaculate N reg Super Exceed from TMP Imports ( Delica World) in Bristol for £500 less. I have since had a pump seal problem that they fixed in a day under warranty with no quibble. Other than that 6000 trouble free miles.
We are selling our other car as it has hardly been used since we bought the Delica. It is now part of the family. Off to the Lake District next week for a break (in the Deli).
Hope they sort your problems & don't mess you about.

.........

I got one with two battery set-up that had no battery clamp. It turned up as an advisory on the first MOT I took it through. Finally got around to cobbling something together to hold 'em in place in time for the second MOT and took it to the MOT garage to find out if it would pass. I was told that although it was down as an advisory, it wouldn't have failed without one  Shocked ...and they were happy with my codge-up  :D

Good luck mate, hope it all works out - they are great fun!!

Dave.

Hi Aust,

I'd be getting on the phone to the Bristol branch to speak to the boss NOW! Don't wait for him to get to Cleeve - if he's in Bristol, insist on speaking to him!

Read through you post here and make a list of absolutely EVERYTHING that has either gone wrong, is broken or is not right about the car.

Mention to them that MOT's have all advisory's permanently logged, so you can find out if any of the 'adviseable' parts were 'overlooked' on the MOT.

Buying a used car from a dealer has the benefit of comeback - and it sounds like you have a lot to come back about.

If I were you, I would be hopping and even to the point of calling trading standards/watchdog etc....don't let them delay getting your motor in order, it is their obligation to do so and you need to remind them of that!

Sorry to go on, but dealers like this make my blood BOIL!!  Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad

Best of luck getting is sorted, and if you want - IanFJ, Atric Fox, Jonny B and myself may just have to pay them a visit on our way tp Sparkford!  Twisted Evil  (Artic is the skinniest man I know - but BOY has he got an evil nasty vindictive streak!  Shocked  Shocked  Shocked  Laughing  Laughing )

Best of luck,

Bruce.

don't wory mate I have it all in hand.

the bloke is sorting out for me and its over beening done now.
I tend to try the friendly approach first then if its not sorted then the ***T realy hits the fan.

I already know about the trading standards fit for purpose act and all that and MOT stuff.

We will have to see how he gets on  Wink .

Aust.

Hi mate.
Not all the jobs were done to my satisfaction but they were done.
I suppose that is a garage for you, they don't want to spend money do they?

They only did one ball joint as the other three were not bad enough, but in my book if there knocking they should have been done but there you are. :?
I have decided to do the other joints myself.

The glow plugs were very old and rusty so I asked for a new set but no, only got one.
another job for me to replace the other three so they all have same resistance values.

They had the Deli for 2 days and replaced 1 ball joint a mirror and a glow plug. slow workers or what?

nevermind ay leest it was done. . Shocked Rolling Eyes
