Havng spent hours wondering why I couldn't get my bus started having replaced the fuel filter, I trawled the forum & dug up a single wee tip that saved me a visit to the garage. I thought it'd be a good idea to repost it to save anyone else the hours of head scratching hassle.
You can fill the new filter to the brim & pump the filter for hours, but your bus still won't start if the tiny valve flap underneath the manual pump is bent, which mine was, and obviously someone else's one was too. When you remove the old filter, check this flap & if it isn't sitting flush with the valve remove it via the brass screw, straighten it & replace.
Another tip is, if you've pumped diesel into the filter to the point where it's spurting out of the primer bleed valve but your bus still won't start, loosen a fuel injector, tighten the bleed valve, & pump some more until it's physically hard to pump anymore & diesel's leaking from the injector. Tighten it up again & now your bus should have enough pressure to get started again!
All advice is advisory, so don't sue me! |
