I went to Abingdon 4x4 festival on Saturday 23-9-06. It is an absolutely brilliant site, a fair few trade stands were there and I think the off road course was in the region of 3 1/2 miles and I went around it twice
At the start of the course the vehicle is scrutineered, just to make sure there are no loose articles inside that could fly around and cause injury. They also assess whether the vehicle should take the easy route or the hard route around, they were sort of stumped with judging the Deli as they had no experience of them so it was placed in the intermediate category and I was told to take the easy route first time around and see how i felt for the second trip :?
Sure enough I took the easy route first time and I did dent the front bar I have fitted in front of my number plate and also my bash plate which is already re-enforced with 3mm steel chequer plate So obviously second time around I took the easy route again right? wrong I took the hard route on all but one section where I was told no long wheelbase would make one of the turns between some banks
On the hard route at the top of a couple of climbs that had steep drops straight after I actually had the Deli rocking on the rock sliders I had made for it, thank goodness I had made them because side steps would not take the full weight of a Deli and they hang 2-3 inches lower than my sliders.
Needless to say for future events I think the marshals will give any Delicas a pass to do the hard stuff as it certainly went everywhere the Landies went :D The marshals certainly took an interest in the Deli, most asked questions about it at the start of the sections.
I only have one question to ask, Where were you all Only mr101 was there (but not in a Deli ?)
Only Deli in a long line of L/R's
The front of my Deli is now in need of some TLC

Liked the images but these are a bit scary, it sort of puts you off having a lifted motor :-

And there I was scouring Abingdon, with Google earth, trying to find this huge Grand Canyon look-a-like. _________________
