Evening all,
Yet again I am here begging for your help. Went to start up 2.8 L400 tonite and all I got was noise and no go . When I turn the ignition key to ACC I hear the fuel pump click but it just carries on clicking making all the dashboard lights flash, the ampmeter shows nothing needle don't move at all, on turning the key to start I hear the starter solenoid clicking away but nothing more. The battery checks out as pumping out 12v, but I have no way of checking it any further any ideas??

tried testing the starter motor?
that'd be the first thing I'd look at from the sounds of it. _________________ Eminent Exceed.

Hi Hairyben,
I will although I don't think it's at fault the problem begins when I turn the key to ACC the fuel pump solenoid just keeps running, not the single heavy click it usually get.???
Thanks for the suggestion though

You've probably already checked but, are all the battery connections good.
The only clicking I get when starting is the glow plug relay, Can't hear the fuel pump solenoid :?
Just when things are clicking its normally a bad connection or a faulty relay, or thebatteries are duff although the voltage is good, the crancking amps might not be there, worth trying a jump start :? _________________ Beat

As beat says try a jump start first to see if that helps,if thats a no go or it turns over but won't fire then it may be the stop control solenoid on the injection pump is stuck in the shut position,ie not letting fuel through, they are normally green topped and towards the rear side of the pump, with a cable connection on,also a beat said check all connections on the batterys and also the glo plug rail as well, hth
