The reason for my lack of power (might be of use to others) is that either the rod from the actuator valve is sticky or the diaphragm inside the actuator valve is split. This av (as I understand it) is a little gadget which sits more or less at the front of the turbo unit and has a rod which is pushed to and fro by the diaphragm under pressure from the turbo. The rod opens and closes the wastegate. :D Now, I'm feeling rather pleased with myself since that explanation sounds pretty good.. until that is.. anyone who knows what they're talking about sees it! Shocked Anyway, I'm told that that the rod sometimes gets sticky from standing around in docks etc and can need loosening up. It's possible to do that (sometimes) without taking the engine to pieces on the kitchen table but I'll leave the details to my betters. Wink
Many thanks to Mark at SVS for getting his crowbar out :D
Hope this helps someone.
