Bought a set from Mitsi in Putney (£94 ) but.. they seem to be very tight. In fact they don't sit flat on the wheel hub. I've tried gently re attaching the wheel to see what the effect might be and the clips slowly bend inwards. I guess it's possible to then bend them out once the wheel is on but is this normal or should everything slot neatly into place? Anyone know? I've got those 15" alloys with sort of cylindrical holes, very common. _________________ Steve H

My back centre caps are very tight, takes a lot of force to remove them, although the front ones I can remove by hand! Not quite sure why. Although I think I did read somewhere that there are different coloured spring retainers for front and back, maybe someone else can enlighten? |

yeah, there are different coloured retainers, I think gold for the back and silver for the front. The front seem to be a better fit as there's a distinct gap between the wheel and the hub. My mechanic wouldn't put them on (I've lost my jack handle!) as he said they wouldn't allow the wheel to tighten up sufficiently. I'm tempted to cut 1/8th" out of the retainers to make them sit better.. If you see a Deli with a wheel preceeding it - that'll be me! _________________ Steve H

Steve, it's to do with the centre hole - the Mitsu caps only fit properly with the Mitsu wheels, although they can be made to fit with the others. The Mitsu wheels have a stepped flange and cutouts in the edge of the hole to accomodate the retaining clips. Aftermarket alloys just have a plain round hole which is why you nearly never see Mitsu centre caps on aftermarket alloys. _________________ Pete

thanks Pete, I'm going to persevere and see what I can do. I've seen the caps on the wheels that I've got so there must be a way.... Chewing gum should do it :? _________________ Steve H
