okay here is the definitive guide to model numbers
Also this link gives a good descriptive of the different models http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/mitsubishi/Delica/

Typical number is KD-PE8W-HSEHF2

The first block identifies the fuel type - KD is Diesel, E is Petrol

In the second block the P is common to all models as is the final W

The second letter identifies the general chassis type
A or B - 2 wheel drive models
D = Aero Roof (Flat Top)
E = High Roof incl Crystal Lite
F = Any long wheel base incl 2WD models

The number refers to the actual engine model
4 = 2.4 petrol engine
5 = 2.5 diesel engine
6 = 3.0 V6 Petrol
8 = 2.8 diesel

The last block of letters identifies the body shape and individual trim levels, and again refers to the engine type.
