Anyone know what RPM I should be doing when the speedo indicates 60 mph? I've got just under 3000rpm. I'm not sure that my rev counter and speedo are actually reading correctly!! :?
Also on tickover the rev counter indicates 1500 but it feels a lot lower!

Hi Matey
If i remember correctly mine was reading 3000@70mph maybe 80 (Can't remember exactly but it was between the 2 )
And the tickover sits at just below 1000rpm id say beetween 850-950+/-
if you reding 1500 at tickover that would def be high and also it would be quite fast too :? so maybe there is a prob with them,i wonder if they encountered a problem whilst installing the chip for the speedo conversion (if fitted).

Marc,

As far as I'm aware they only fitted a face to the speedo as the odo still reads in Kilometres.

Hmmm :? i wonder if when they put the needles back on they just pushed them on where they could (i think theres a locating pin on them tho)so that shouldnt happen i wouldn't have thought,or it could be the face on there isn't calibrated in the sense of how it should be,if that makes sense,i wonder if they have used a cheap face or maybe not the correct face but made it fit Question id take it back to them and get them to sort it,if they Can't then ask them to remove the face plate and supply and fit the gearbox chip instead, these work of the original face, hope that helps atb

Marc,

Thanks for the advice, will check my speed against the wifes Cherokee before I go back to the guys who did the speedo. Not sure why the rev counter should be so far out though! Will probably investigate further at the weekend if the time allows! One thing I did find though was the rev counter stayed at 1500 for a short time after I switched off the engine before it finally sunk back to the stop!

My 2.8 Super Exceed sits at 300 rpm at 80 mph (on a private road of course!)

I have doubts about the accuracy of my speedo :? , I try to guage it against 'sensible' cars in speed-restricted zones but I'm getting mixed messages. My 80 seems a little slow but that could be due to the massive height of the driving position (we like that :D :D :D ). Anyway, my point is that my 80=2700 rpm.

Just a thought but Delica speedo and rev counter faces are all one piece therefore when the face is changed you need to pull off both the speed and rpm pointers. These pointers are very dodgy to remove and if you pull out the pin with the pointer they will go back in but rarely does the speedo or rpm work properly. One of the symtoms of the rpm needle being pulled out is that when you turn off the engine the needle stays in position, turn on the ignition and it falls back to zero.
Another possability is when removed the pointer was reinstalled in the wrong position thus giving too high a reading.
Just a thought. Rolling Eyes
