i have a p reg Delica 2800 that has been part of the family since jan
the fuel ecconomy is about 15 round town so i believe
it needs a look at. most things i read tell me that its the fuel pump
needing turned down . is this all it could be and is there a good agent /
garage in west london that could sort this out without a huge bill
i do't really want to start fiddling when i don't really know what i am doing.
ps lots of power at present but a fair bit of black when being pushed
at present . any help would be great other that that it is an great beast.

Hi Andy & welcome to the club.

Not much by way of answering your query apart from, have you block your EGR valve thingy? See here: http://www.MDOCUK.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=29.

HTH, but probably not Wink

Andy,

welcome.

I'm live on the Hayes/Southall border.
Like you my mpg aint brilliant, 19/20 mpg around town.
Mind you the traffic around here can be horrendous.

Apart from blanking the EGR valve, as Willisa mentioned, I've picked snippets like making sure the engine oil's fresh and oil, fuel and air filters clean. I've only just got my brain in gear to remember to put in diesel additive to the fuel which helps clean all the gunje(?) out.

I did the EGR valve myself, an absolute doddle, five minutes!

A local garage did the oil and filters etc. for £80 all in.
If you're near enough I'll give their contact details.
It's a bit of a rundown looking place, (ramshackled lockup), but the guys know their stuff.

regards

I'm getting 24.4 mpg with a mix of Mway and town driving; M3 and into Twickers. I try to keep the revs below or at 3000.
