For once not a 'what goes where'  but a 'this goes here'

I've just fitted some new rear speakers, so whilst the dashboard was apart I noted down which wires do what.

Description          ISO Colour           Mitsi Colour (all have silver pips)
Ground                Black                   Black
Battery                Yellow                  Red and Black
Ignition                Red                     Blue
Dimmer               Orange                Green and White
Rear Right +        Purple                  Grey and Red
Rear Right -         Purple and Black   Yellow and Red
Rear Left +          Green                   Grey and Blue
Rear Left -           Green and Black    Yellow and Blue
Front Right +        Grey                     White and Red
Front Right -         Grey and Black     Black and Red
Front Left +         White                    White and Blue
Front Left -          White and Black     Black and Blue

I can't promise the speaker polarity is correct, and I had no massive speaker setup, or amp under the drivers seat.  The mitsi stero that came out was a tape player, but I do have a collection of wires under teh passenger seat that look CD changerish.

When I get some time I'll put together some photo instructions for replacing rear speakers.

Chris

Hi Chris,

Photo instructions for replacing the rear speakers would be good, am thinking of changing mine
but haven't dared to go there yet.

When I replaced the stereo in mine I got away with using an iso adapter for a mitsubishi wiring loom :D

I thought the people who did my radio would have used an adaptor, but no. They cut off the original Mitsi connector, cut the ISO from My radio, then twisted the wires together, and taped it all up.

You may have heard my comments when I found out what they had done, most of the street did!

Now all the wires are soldered and heat sleeved. And all the speaker cable is new. On my travels through the dashboard I did find a +12V, that is now on an extension out of the top pod for my TomTom. Better than the lead to the lighter socket.

The speaker instructions are getting closer, but I may have to ask someone like Rusy to host them asI only use photo bucket for pictures, and can't put text with it, unless it's on the forum.

Has anybody fitted motorised single din screen in a L400 ? I am thinking about getting one as my feeling is better security and protection when not in use, but am concerned that when the screen comes out it will not clear the console above ( Hazard switch ect.)

I've wondered the same thing Richie. I think I've seen sleeve extenders that allow 'long' stereos to fit and stick out a bit further but figured that would look Naff (With a capital 'N') :?

just to let you all know i fitted a twin din set up with motorized 7" screen and it clears the front of dash no probs. but if in drive when you operate the screen in or out it catches on gear change column no big deal though just pull it towards you as screen passes by. HTH.

Good to know the twin din screen system works okay. Ordered one myself and only thought about the clearance 3 days later.. Boyz with new toyz as the wife would say.....
Getting an ITExtreme multimedia system for the bus so i think the only time that this screen will get used is for me...when i am parked up.... Embarassed

I've just fitted a new DVD/TV screen player. My wires seem to be different to those above in some respects :?

I will be updating my post in Reader's Drives with the colours later.

In the meantime, I've posted a report here:
