FLEXY FLARES
Hi all,
I was hunting around for the elusive body lift for the 'ol L400 and came across these babies.......
http://www.supertrux.com/acatalog/Wheel_Arches.html
'Only' £145 !
WOW I THOUGHT !! Just wot I want !! :D
Here's a some better piccys...
The last picture is from the Oz site http://www.bushranger.com.au/flexyflr.html
I also found a 'How to Fit' guide.......
http://www.offroad.au.com/tech/flexy-flares-install-prado-gx-kzj120.cfm
Looks like an affordable solution to the old Big Boy wheel arch problem for both L300 & L400 trucks. They also have the advantage of being 'flexible' , so won't get damaged when off road/Asda's carpark and are pedestrian friendly.
Wot do ya reckon ??
Has anyone had any experience with them ?? _________________ Any information in this posting is correct to the best of my knowledge and I accept no resposibilty for any actions or results based upon it.© |

Just had a look at the fiting instructions and it says that the kit contains 2 lengths of flexy flare and 2 coils of wire. Does that mean the kit will only do 2 arches I wonder? In which case £145 ain't that cheap! Also, on the Aussie site they're priced at Au$117 which is about £50!
I think these will look better on the Delica than what they do on that Prado though :D _________________ Pete

I've spoken to the guy at L.A. Supertrux.
He says the price £183.89 inc VAT is for a set of four.
The first thing he asked me though was what car I had. I told him, and he replied 'have you had it lifted?'
I told him no and that I was looking for a UK kit to do it. He said that he knew about the Delica and had been speaking to a 'tall chap' from the owners club about it, who had also paid him a visit ! ???
He hasn't done a kit yet, but reckon he could do one for about £700 + VAT and £400 (presumably + VAT) to fit it if required.
They are based in Daventry Northants.
So I was wondering if there was a keen interested member nearby, that they might pop-in and get the low down on the lift and the wheel arches.
Any kind offers....................? _________________ Any information in this posting is correct to the best of my knowledge and I accept no resposibilty for any actions or results based upon it.© |

Ginja, just sent PM.
£700+vat is a no way for a decent amount of lift. 2 inches max with different torsion bars and rear springs/spacer but any higher then all goes pear shaped. Torsion bars alone looking at probably £250 - £300.
I've already got a monster truck builder down here on the case who has confirmed there's serious work to be done in order to get a worthwhile 4 inch lift. I'm thinking of setting up a charity for obsesses Delica owners and applying for Lottery finding _________________ Pete

I'm not 100% sure i i think mine has been lifted by around 2 inches. (It always looks a couple of inches higher than every other high roof i have seen). But i would love to go the full hog and lift it a bit more |

if you have a winter pack fitted, then it will be a little higher than a 'standard' Deli, we've not managed to measure the difference yet, will try to at the next meet |
