It's awkward, as you seem clearly aware of!
Having a look through all the various manuals I have, there really very little info. at all. There's not even anything usefull in the wiring schematics really...
Oddy, all the switches on autodoc.co.uk seem to be normally closed, even one that states it's for L300 Delica, amongst others.
I couldn't find any reference to a mitsubishi part number, though that's not saying much. There are parts catalogues online...
So not much help really, if you have one with the pin too long, could you (carefully !) grind it down to size?
Failing all that, yiou could setup a microswitch on the gear lever.
Good luck _________________ 91 L300 Super Exceed (well it did once...) |

Well followed up Lewis's part number he posted on FB, I did another lap of the internet and found this one which actually appears to be the right part with bullet connectors, not a plug, all for about 20 quid. Perfect!
However it's in Russia - wonder if it'll make it through customs?

There's also this on Amayama, but suspect it is a later replacement/equivalent which is where I've got stuck before.
Have asked to see a photo before ordering.

Switch on the dash, microswitch, or some other bodge is likely remedy though.
Luckily reversing lights are not MOT items for pre-2009 vehicles, but must work if fitted (don't you just love the contradictions!) so basically I'll refrain from going backwards for now _________________ The PINK PIG!

Well Anayama came up trumps. OEM part in Mits box.
Finally got round to fitting it at the weekend and it works!
Greased the propshaft nipples and that finishes the gearbox and transfer rebuild/replace work.
130 mile round trip to Oxford yesterday, mostly at motorway speeds and all is well.
Right...what's next? Ah yes the leaky door seals and window rubbers, damp knackered carpets to replace, chasing rust, sorting out the intermittent rev counter, wheel alignment could do with checking.... the list always goes on! _________________ The PINK PIG!
