Hi all,
Having bought our 1996 L300 last November, it has sadly failed its MOT on several points.  The garage it is currently at seems to be having trouble sourcing parts and I am starting to lose confidence in them being able to fix it in the near future.  Is anyone able to recommend a garage near Edinburgh that is familiar with older imported Delicas?
Thanks,
Allie

Hello Allie,
Welcome to the club, if you can list the parts that you need and the reasons for the mot failure, the members will try and help you source the parts and advise you on fixing the mot problems.
Is your vehicle manual or automatic, and what type of camper is it?

                                Cheers Chris & Chris.

Thanks.
It is a manual 1996 L300 Delica III, 2.5TD
The mot fails are:
Service brake efficiency
Offside front position lamp not working
Nearside rear reversing lamp inoperative
Offside front headlamp aim too high
Nearside and offside front seat belt anchorage prescribed area strength or continuity significantly reduced

Hello Allie,
It's mr.b again, it looks like everyone has gone away for the weekend.
We've just got back from Leicester seeing the grandkids.

The service brake, which us normal people call the handbrake, could be a number of things. The brake shoes may need adjusting, there could be brake dust in the drums, the brake cable may need adjusting or lubricating, the brake shoes might be worn and need replacing.

The o/s front position lamp is probably a bulb blown as could the nearside rear reversing light.

The headlight on our van, which has a single lens, has two adjusting screws in cutouts in the trim surrounding the lamp, one at the top for up and down, and one nearer the centre of the van for right and left. If yours is different look at the L300 frequently asked question sections, the top line is a downloadable workshop manual pdf, if you look at section 54 page 29 you will find all the different headlamp types.

I've had a look at our 1992 L300 reimo camper and any decent repair garage should be able to do your seat belt anchorages, you would probably have to remove the seats andengine covers to make it easier depending on how bad they are, you may have to get the work inspected by VOSA, the government vehicle department, because of the safety aspect.
Hope this helps,

                      Best wishes Chris & Chris
