Yes, really hard to do. Have to remove most of the top of the engine to get at them.  Took me about six hours! So when you do, put the best one's back in the money can buy!

Personally I would go iridium plugs - more expensive again but worth every penny. I finally changed the ones in my prius when it hit 150,000 miles and even then they seemed fine (figured it was worth doing as a precaution), could tell all was happy as the fuel economy was still what it should be.

Any local motor factors should be able to look up the correct replacements based on the standard spec plugs

This post was 13 years ago but somebody must have changed plugs and leads since then! I can see there's a lot to remove (and replace!)  but question is should I get new gasket set (inlet manifold?) before I start? If so, do the ones for Montero 3.0 fit Delica Space Gear chamonix 2004.  Is it same engine?

I have now done mine with help from a friend who was slightly more comfortable than me tackling it.
Definitely a big improvement as it has stopped the 'popping back' in mass Air sensor box. It's 2006 Delica and done 70k miles so anyone with similar should change.
It's basically a case of being methodical and taking lots of pics. We wasted many Hours trying to work out firing order then noticed it's printed on the block!

The more I read and hear about L400s of either fuel, the more glad I am that I chose a L300 in ignorance. It was pretty much designed on the Henry Ford principle that any bum hick up a dirt track with a few spanners could fix it. I am the living proof of it! Very Happy
