to the wise ones, is the 2.8 Series1 Speedo interchangeable with mk 2 v6. the speedo has been been jumping around for the last three days and sometimes does not move at all.
thought it may be the sender on the gear box but the gear change is smooth and the Overdrive is working. taken it out tried the obviosus psuing the needle firmly back on looking for any dry joints or broken tracks.
I have a spare Series1 off my 2.8 L400 diesel but when I compare the rear of the two units the copper conductors are slightly different.
if not will be looking for a second hand speedo unit.

They are supposed to be the same, as there was no changes made to those components when the Series 2 was designed. The changes were Cosmetic, to the bodyshap of the front end and an electonic fuel pump and ECU.
However over time Mitsu have changed manufacturers, so designs have also been updated. Note that the Part numbers are usually changed as well as the manufacturer, so they know which company did what! _________________

Common issue.
The part number you need is MR122305.
Lots on the bay.
Mine failed from a trip back from Wales, a few years back.
Found the quickest supplier on the bay - Fitted the part, all good

Sorry for the delay in updating a few busy weeks
I tried the mk1 speedometer out of the 2.8 diesel and no joy . The rev counter was working with the original speedometer cluster
But did not work with the mk 1 cluster plugged in nor the speedo.
The mk 1 speedometer unit had no rev counter or speedo working but all lights on the dash okay.
I put the original (mk 2) speedometer cluster back in and had rev counter working again but not the speedo, all the lights on the dash again okay.
Ordered a GPS speedo offbeat whilst trying to work out the issue to avoid speeding tickets.
Had an early start in work last week and whilst opening the gates to the works yard noticed that the drivers side - side light was not working. I had changed these to LED last year year and to date have been okay nice and bright etc.
Changed the bulb before going home all bright and legal and to my surprised the speedo started working.... no idea how an LED side light could affect the speedo but after changing it all good......for now. Still working

Could be down to the lowered resistance of the LED lamps on the circuit, affecting a shared relay or fuse. _________________
