Morning, went out for a drive last night - first time in a few weeks after cleaning the engine and fitting a new radiator and all sorts of other jobs; when I put my foot down there was a big woosh sound from under the bonnet.  I thought as I had just done the radiator was it a hose blowing off but then realised that really wasn't likely. After having a look, I couldn't see anything so carried on; I found that putting my foot down it happened again but as soon as I backed off it went away.
Watching the turbo boost gauge, the pressure would build up to 14psi, the woosh would happen and the boost would instantly go. So I concluded what I could hear is the inlet manifold relief valve lifting and probably caused by the waste gate not opening properly or at all - maybe caused by me washing the engine down and then it sitting cold and wet for a couple of weeks.
Is there an easy way to free it up, guessing you can't/don't lubricate it.

Andy

Lubricating the rod, twixt turbo and the engine block, along with a few forwards and backwards movements, helps to release the stickiness!

I assumed the heat would burn off any lube!

Got to the bottom of it in five minutes!
In slackening the alternator to change the belts, the cable stud on it sliced through the waste gate hose - simple fix 😁
