Great, I fix one problem and along comes the next!
Driving back from a day out yesterday, I found the engine was revving very high at 60mph and after a bit of investigation found that it was not changing to 4 the gear. This resulted in driving for a couple of hours at 50mph on the motorway.
This morning I checked the auto transmission fluid and with the engine hot and running and it was up to the top mark on the dip stick and a nice red colour.
Can anyone alay my fears of the worst please, things to do or check as I can't think of anything myself. It was working okay on the way there, but setting off for home it didn't change to 4th even at first.

Check the OD control relay fuse, in the dash fuse box. (10Amp Red)
It's the one marked (ELC-4).

Also, the temperature sensor on the head signals to the gearbox ECU when the engine is hot enough to allow the gearbox to engage 4th/Overdrive. If there is a faulty sensor, the ECU "thinks" the engine is still cold, so won't allow 4th. To check, simply remove the wire from the sensor, and earth it, thus bypassing the sensor. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Well that was a pleasant change, checked the fuse as per Lewis suggestion and it was okay, so got slightly bigger pangs of concern. Then had a peep under the intercooler and low and behold there was a blue and white wire just hanging there. Did a makeshift repair as I had no tools or hand small enough to reach under the intercooler and all the way home from work I could drive at a normal speed at lower revs 😄
Thanks guys - an easy one for a change.
