After 27 years, you have to expect a little rust somewhere! All this wet weather has shown up one or two soluble bits on my bus too! Just turned 29, so not bad for a bit of 'Jap Crap'. I still can't believe how well it runs. (Famous last words!)

Mad  How dare you say that.  Go Shoot yourself - - - Not before your next arranged meet tho  Smile

The Japanese vehicle manufacturers have proved they make really reliable vehicles.

In my case, good reliable motorcycles.  The Delica L400 is my first Japanese car - - - Well impressed.
I never had had an English car, many F-rds, and one V--xh--l (in my case) that reached 25 years service  Sad

"Jap Crap" is what Brit buyers used to call any Japanese vehicle - mainly because of rust. The Delica, strangely, is only my 2nd Japanese vehicle, (not counting a 1978 Suzuki GS400 motorbike); the first being a lovely 1996 Honda Accord Coupe, bought at auction for £450. Built in the USA! In fact both bike and car were totally dependable.

Good luck, hope it gets sorted the way you like it and that it won't be too dear.
I'm going to have to revisit mine - possibly this summer.
The horrendous bodge I did after I took out the sunroof altogether (no hope for it!) has started falling to bits again with the edges now starting to "peel".
Will prob need to take sections back out again and weld it properly this time...
Lesson learnt, if doing this sort of stuff at all may as well do it properly the first time!  Rolling Eyes

As for rust buckets generally - lots more now starting to show in places on Selma, too. Gutted, given how much time I spent on sorting some of it last spring/summer.

That will look a lot better than my silver Hammerite out of a 20 year-old tin! (It was a bit thick, so even if the metal rusts away, I should still have a roof!) What colour, Ian? Does it look like a '70s vinyl roof?
