Picked up our D5 import from Aberdeenshire. Not a L400 but totally delighted with it. Also wondering if there are any D5 owners using the forum.

Hi, where in Glasgow are you? I am interested in getting a Delica D5 too.
Have you had any issues servicing it?

Hi everyone,
I have recently imported a D4, 4WD from Japan. Has anyone experienced the fuel consumption for this car? The engine is 2.4L and the car has used 55L petrol for 300 kilometres. Does it sound alright?
Thanks

Hi, Mozak, and welcome. Are you sure you've got those figures right? It translates to around 17mpg, or similar to my dad's old 1972, 3.5 V8 Mk1 Range Rover. My 1991 diesel L300 Delica returns around 8 or 9 Km/L (approx 28mpg) on a top gear run, cruising around 60mph.

Hi Andy Man,
Thanks for your reply. Yes I am sure. My Delica D5 is 2.4L petrol. I had about 55l petrol and drove the car only in London for about 300 kilometres. The wired thing is I can smell exhaust fume inside the car. I don’t where to take the car to do a diagnostic test.

Driving in London? - well that's very frugal, then!

If so, that works out around 18.3L per 100Km or 5.46 Km per Litre.

I.E. 3.38 miles per Litre (15mpg).  Shocked

A few pointers in response to questions above..

- D5 is ULEZ compliant.  I drove inside the Circular a few weeks ago,  checked the website,  confirmed nothing to pay.

- Elevating roof.  Not planning this myself but look at the D5 Terrain camper conversion to get an idea.

- Importers.  Got mine from Algys Autos.  They had it in Japan and then it takes a few months to get here.  Cheaper than buying already imported.

- Supplementary info.  An old sorned L400 is good for storage and for keeping the weeds down behind the garage.

Hi all... just bought a 2008 D5 and it's v cool. Previously had 1999 Aerodeck.

Pleased with the L400 but needed something more modern for transporting the kids daily... the D5 suits the job.

Usual issues with a crap aftermarket Clarion DD screeny thing but it plays videos and CDs so okay for now... following with interest if anyone finds a plug in replacement.

Based in Liverpool... other toys are an MGF Trophy and an Alpine Renault GTA.

Well after many years of multiple l400s in various models from swb base spec to lwb royals i am now the ownder of a D5 2.4 petrol 4WD in base spec.

I've only driven it for about 2.5 hours so far but it is a much nicer place to be than any of the l400s I've had. Much more responsive, powerful and economical. Based admittedly on the onboard I averaged 30mpg pootling along the motorway at about 66 5mph some heavy start stop traffic and a few overtaking foot down moments.

The other half thinks I'm nuts with my long standing Delica ownership but there really isn't anything else like it out there...i temporarily moved to T5 4motion, vito brabus 120 sport, hilux etc and all were lacking in one way or another. The newer vans seemed like a smart idea with better on paper specs like mpg but ended up costing more to buy and needed expensive repairs way too frequently.

So back to Delica it is and I have been waiting for the right D5 to rear it's head and here we are.

Looking forward to basic spannering for service items and having that much space back again.!

A full lanoguarding is already planned as is a full fluid service once I find suppliers for the bits!
