when i turn the key in the ignition, various lights appear on the dashboard. they then go out, such as the glow plug indicator,

however the battery and engine (oil?) symbols remain illuminated

but when i turn the engine over they go out

is this indicative of anything significant ?

BTW the two lit symbols are 9 and 10

10 related the diesel fuel filter and has an engine block symbol
5 being the oil pressure indicator - with an oil can symbol

So it's the Fuel Filter water trap warning light not the Oil warning light.

Just open the valve and let the water drain out of the bottom of the filter.
