Excellent photos! Love the colours in them. Nice! Plus, really useful to see as reference.
Also, exciting project...
What was it like actually maneuvering the engine out of the vehicle, I hear it's fiddly?
Also, out of interest, where did you source the replacement engine? Second hand decent one? Any head/block refurbishment needed?
Did all the ancillaries get swapped over from the old one? _________________ 1992 L300 Exceed "Selma" |

All the work is being done by SVS - All I did was stuff it on the back of a recovery truck and wave it off into the depths of the new forest.
The engine has to come out through the passenger door, so yes a bit more difficult than standing on the wings of a Cortina with a length of rope and a scaffold tube.
The 'new' engine is (I hope!) a good runner from another vehicle (well known to me) with whatever ancillaries attached that are better than mine. Having a full belt service though before it goes in.
Then I'll have the old engine back to strip down to see how bad it broke and salvage some spares.
Right back to polishing the credit card... _________________ The PINK PIG!

Looks like a " proper job"! What is the orange stuff in the pictures? Looks like rusty water sprayed everywhere, but that can't be right. _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

I'm pretty jealous,
not of your running Deli, that's great!
The whole, waving it away to be whisked back to you running and even the AIRCON working!!!
Having just spent a daft time fitting a new head, fighting the front discs and so on...
I'm not there yet, so just a little jealous ( but the pressiousss willl bee hommme sooooooon )
No honestly, congratulations. It takes a little faith to commit good time/funds to a loved old motor, and for me the smiles are just round the next corner.
Enjoy!

Ha just finished putting a bottom end rebuild 4d56t with a new head in my bro's Deli, hoping for another (less smokey) 200k :-)
Feels dodgy hoisting the lump to head height (lol I'm small) for passenger door entry but did enjoy the 2 secs it took to plug in the electrics |

Nice one Rob. You could do a lot of damage to the interior with that lump swinging about _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |
