I have an intermittent squeaky belt somewhere.
I thought it was the power steering belt as it WAS only doing it on full lock but it did it on start up today, then also while driving, before pulling off then it clears.
Is there a guide anywhere on which one it might be and how to tighten them up?

Ta

Well of the other two belts I would be inclined to think the alternator belt needs tightening.

If I remember right it needs 8mm of play, at the centre of the belt.

I don't have a diagram of it, but it shows it on page 14 of the Russek Delica Manual.

Do I have access to that manual as an "ordinary" member?

Most likely the alternator belt, as there is most resistance when it is re-charging the battery at high rate straight after starting, when a lot of  juice has been used in cranking.

Ah, yes, but you didn't give an explanation! Am I being patronising? Shocked

I have the v6 and had the same squeaky issue. It did turn out to be the power steering belt.

It was a very easy exercise to tighten. So easy, I think I managed it in a few minutes with no manual, or bending in awkward positions and no special tools.

I'll have a look at what I did tomorrow in daylight if you need but easy to figure out.

It was sorted so quickly, I've forgotten what I did. Smile

No! It just shows we are both inclined towards the same thing causing the problem.  Very Happy

Thankyou, I would appreciate some pointers, that would be great.
I'm no mechanic but that doesn't sound too bad...

Cheers

Bare with me and I'll have look tomorrow.

If I remember correctly, it's not much more than slackening the bolt that goes through the power steering belt pulley wheel, then winding another bolt in an adjuster to take the pulley wheel out to take up the slack.

You could well need your alternator belt tightening also though.

Can't remember the exact belt tightness so try a bit at a time and hopefully will cure your squeal

Thats great thankyou.
I did have a look yesterday and thought that might be the case but thought better of it.
I couldn't get a spanner or socket onto the pulley nut properly cos the fan is in the way and a small try with a ring spanner felt mighty tight...
Didn't want to start spraying WD40 around in case it got on the belts so I chickened out!

It actually didn't squeak once today on a run out, perhaps the threat of tightening it has sorted it!  Laughing

I can get a 3/8 drive halfords ratchet on it by just moving the fan a bit. It's tight but doable.

Good luck. 🤞
