Hi, I'm from Chile, South America and I used to have a L400 Delica, I had to sell it to finance a trip. Here Delicas are very uncommon and have lots of restrictions for being a used imported vehicle, but you can find very easily L300 delivery vans, and a lot newer and cheaper than Delicas. They are longer than Delicas, but other than that they look the same from the outside. I was wondering if it's possible to put the transfer case and axles of the Delica in the regular L300 van? Using the 2.5 diesel stock engine? If it is possible I could make a, let's say, 2010 long wheel base Delica Frankenstein, with LHD steering wheel (as we drive here).
Anybody have an experience or thoughts about this?
Thanks! |

The L300 Delica stands higher than the 2WD van. It has double wishbone suspension, and double chassis rails; does your van have this set-up? You ideally need to see a Delica to see what mods you will need for gear/transfer box mountings etc. To raise the rear end, the Delica's rear axle is fitted under the springs, I think the van's is fitted on top, there may be other differences too. However, nothing is impossible, where there is a will (and a good deal of skill and persistence, there is a way. Good luck! _________________ Andy C L300 Super Exceed - over 100 smiles per gallon! |

Plus as you say the van is longer than the Delica so alonger rear propshaft would be needed. _________________ Ian.
