After last year's surprising MOT pass on first presentation with no prep, normal service is resumed with a fail (just like the other 14 years).
A first pass on a vehicle that is nearly 31 years old and lives in the rain was quite unnerving.

This time fails on front brake lines and steering gaitors - cheap and easy and they haven't been replaced recently...or ever...

Means I can afford tyres for the recent new wheels :-)
Happy days blob3blob3

Smile
Are you getting the Cooper Discoverers you mentioned a while back, or am I getting mixed up?

I think it may have been me thinking tyres - as I'm still thinking tyres.
I used to have Cooper Discoverer AT2s (which were good) but sold them with the old 15" wheels. I heard AT3s aren't quite so good for some applications.
Then STTs were suggested but for me they are too aggressive as they are more off road than on and I'm usually more on-road than off.

So also been looking at Michelin Latitude Cross 112H https://www.michelin.co.uk/auto/tyres/latitude-cross which look like a good compromise and are better in the wet than most AT tyres - which is important considering the amount of time I seem to spend on wet tarmac in tail happy 2WD mode. Also they are snow/mountain legal which is handy for winters in ski places.
I'll accept the embarrassment of being pulled out by a land rover if I get stuck (although the only time the van has ever needed a tow out was when my co-driver managed to get it stuck in a drainage ditch leaving two wheels off the ground and needing a JCB to pull/crane it out much the her embarrassment- no type of tyre would sort that out)
