Got a bit of knocking sound at slow speed on turning left.

Any ideas, resovoir is full, does the steering rack need bleeding.

Had a replacement power steering rack fitted a couple of years ago.

CV joint? I don't know what they sound like on these, it's more of a clicking on cars where I've experienced CV joint wear. It usually only happens if the gaiter has split and contamination got in.

Don't think it's the CV as goes away if I rev the engine to get going which leads me to think it's related to the power steering.

Mmh. Kind of odd that it goes away when revving... I suppose that rules out tie rods/ suspension bushings too...

Is it a continuous knocking (pop-pop-pop...) or single, individual knocks?

Steering turns but judders as it does so and only at manoeuvring speed, any faster and she turns perfectly.
Only does it turning left not right.
At all normal speeds steering is perfect.

That sounds like air or water in the fluid.
You could try a fluid change - Just guessing tho  Rolling Eyes

Racks tend to be self bleeding, if there is enough fluid in the reservoir, and you just turn from lock to lock. I take it the pump belt is tight and not slipping at all? If something in the steering joints was stiff turning left, it might be causing too much back pressure/resistance in the pump, especially at low revs. Higher revs, or the lower turning resistance at higher road speeds would reduce this strain, so no judder?

Steering is free to full lock in both directions and resovoir is full.
Drive belt appears to be well adjusted.
