I know that there are a few recommendations on the forum but it seems like this site has slowed down a bit in the last few years. I've just bought a 95 swb that needs a reasonable amount of cutting, fabricating and welding to the chassis. Can anyone recommend someone or somewhere (or even themselves) that would do a good job? I think that these vehicles are worth preservation so I want to get it fixed and then sealed. This is by far the last thing that will need to be done but it's probably the most important at the minute.

Thanks

Al

For anyone interested in an update, the welding was eventually done by Broadlane Land rovers in Westbury. After talking with loads of garages that insisted that they could weld a patch over the holes and that no one would ever notice the guys in Broadlane agreed to do the work properly. It cost quite a lot but they cut out the rusted chassis bits and fabricated new sections before welding it all together. I think that I have kept this one from being scrapped any time soon so, happy driving.

How much are you talking?  I am going to need the area around the rear mudflaps repaired and the rear part of the sills capped after i discovered a poor attempt to fix (hide) it in the past.  Are they crazy money?

It depends on how much you think it's all worth. They charge about £500 a day or £250 a half. But they're very good at what they do.

That doesn't seem bad.  I would think you can do a lot of welding in a day.  I going to give them a call once I am back from my trip next month.
